Jacqueline Arenal Farré

Outstanding Cuban actress with extensive participation in telenovelas and Cuban cinema.

She was born in La Habana in 1968. Daughter of writer and playwright Humberto Arenal and actress Martha Farré, Jacqueline Arenal seems to have been born with a predetermined destiny: to be an actress. Since childhood she showed aptitude for acting.

Graduated in acting from the Instituto Superior de Arte in 1990.

She had not yet graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte when she played Sofía in Humberto Solás's film El siglo de las luces. In that film the still almost adolescent actress demonstrated how much talent she had for acting. Then came other roles in film, radio, and television. In the latter medium she would give life and substance to Verena Contreras, from the telenovela Tierra Brava by Xiomara Blanco. That character was so well-received that in Cuba Jacqueline is still Verena.

Current residence

For some years she has resided in Colombia, where she traveled for a work contract with Colombian channel RCN. I arrived here without looking for it. One day a RCN Televisión team arrived in La Habana searching for actors for several of their productions. She was chosen, among others, to travel to Bogotá to audition for the telenovela Los Reyes. She was selected to play the antagonist of the project and thus began this new adventure full of discoveries and learning. In it she has participated in telenovelas that have enjoyed the acceptance of the people, also conquering the admiration and respect of viewers in the South American country with characters like Yoli from Los Reyes.

She was at the Iberoamericano Festival in Bogotá and at the Theater Festival in La Habana with a very important work, Una historia de amor, written and produced by Enrique Carriazo and directed by Carlos Díaz.

She was a most loving daughter who cared for her father Humberto Arenal with such fortitude and tenderness until his death.
