Cuban actor who has developed the most important part of his career in Mexico. Although he has worked in film, theater and television, he is best known for his soap opera roles, both in Cuba and in Mexico.
Son of a successful writer and poet, who currently resides in Valencia, Spain, and also has a journalist brother who writes for the American newspaper Miami Herald. In 1999 he obtained Mexican nationality.
During his primary education he was always chosen to go to the front or to recite some poetry or say some words at festivals, since he has always been characterized by having a very distinctive voice.
His interest in minerals and the search for oil in his native land led him to study Geophysics, a career that he was on the verge of abandoning after just one week of starting.
He grew up alongside his mother and his grandfather, of whom he has many memories, since his father was always traveling.
It was very difficult for Évora to choose what he was going to dedicate himself to throughout his life. Attending the filming of a movie and being behind the cameras was what made him decide to become an actor. That same day became a nightmare as he received the news that his grandfather had died.
To obtain his first role he had to do a casting in which more than 500 people participated. At 18 years old he already had a well-defined objective: to become a film actor.
In 1980 he did another casting to work on the film Cecilia Valdés, which did not take place, but this project helped him enter the Film Institute, ICAIC, where he made Un hombre de éxito and Casa blanca, which were the films that made him known outside Cuba.
He later traveled to Mexico in search of work opportunities. He arrived at Televisa and got a six-year contract, which was renewed, but with exclusivity.
Laberintos de pasión, El manantial, Abrázame muy fuerte, Gente bien, El privilegio de amar, Entre el amor y el odio are some of the soap operas in which he has acted in Mexico.
Despite having the physique of the classic leading man and having graduated from the Superior Institute of Art (Havana) in the specialty of acting, Évora wanted, for a long time, to be a film director. This desire led him to take a course as a director's assistant at ICAIC and to complete the first two years of the International School of Film and TV of San Antonio de los Baños.
However, his personality and qualities for acting prevailed, and he has continued acting for several years.
In 2003 he plays a villain in Mariana de la Noche.
In 2006 he stars in Mundo de fieras.
In 2007 he participates in the commemorative soap opera of the 50 years of soap operas in Mexico, Amor sin maquillaje and in Al diablo con los guapos, produced by Angelli Nesma.
Television is not the only medium in which he has excelled, as he has also made several films such as: Cecilia, Amada, Habanera, Una novia para David, Capa Blanca, Barrio negro, among others.
In Mexico is where he met his current wife, for which he had to travel to Havana to get divorced. He has three children Rafael, Mariana and Carla.
The food he likes most is Mexican and to lose the pounds it causes him to gain he practices swimming and volleyball. His preferred music is New Age and Mexican.
