He went 1-3 with a two-run home run in his debut against the Baltimore Orioles. Álvarez became the fourth player in MLB history to hit four home runs in his first five games of his career when he connected on a home run off Clayton Richard of the Blue Jays, joining Trevor Story, Yasiel Puig, and Mike Jacobs.
On June 23, Álvarez hit a two-run home run for his seventh home run of the season in just 12 games, setting an Astros franchise record. He also became the first player in MLB history to drive in 16 runs in his first 12 games.
