Yordan Álvarez breaks Joe DiMaggio's record

Yordan became THE BALLPLAYER WHO HAS REACHED 50 RBIs THE FASTEST IN THE HISTORY of the Major Leagues, leaving behind none other than the extraordinary Joe DiMaggio, who needed 46 games for that mark, while Yordan (who is 51) achieved it in 45.

We said it a few weeks ago and we repeat it today: A new star of Cuban baseball has been born and his name is Yordan Álvarez!!! Well, in case you didn't know, the player from Tunas hit 3 home runs, including a grand slam and drove in 7 runs, while the Astros massacred the Baltimore Orioles, 23 runs to 2.

The game was an offensive showcase for the Houston team, where among the 3 Cuban batters they hit 10 hits, with 5 extra-base hits, but that's another story and this is Yordan's story.

The young Cuban slugger went 5-for-3, with 4 runs scored, one walk, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.

The Cuban, furthermore, is now the third ballplayer with the most home runs in his first 45 games, as he has 17, only surpassed by Gary Sánchez (19) and Rhys Hoskins (18).

By historical coincidence, Yordan Álvarez and Aristedes Aquino (of Cincinnati) became the first pair of rookies to hit 3 home runs on the same day.

Yordan is now the eighth Cuban ballplayer with 3 home runs in an MLB game, tying the feat with Kendrys Morales, Yoenis Céspedes and José Canseco, who achieved it on a couple of occasions, in addition to Tony Oliva, Román Mejías, Yasmani Grandal and Yasiel Puig, with one apiece.

In 45 games now the "man-child" has an offensive line of 353/432/743, with 59 hits, 14 doubles and 17 home runs, 30 runs scored and 51 RBIs, in 167 at-bats.
