The talented and possible great candidate for Rookie of the Year in the American League, Yordan Álvarez, has hit a home run at Minute Maid Park so impressive that statisticians automatically searched through the StatCast era records and confirmed it. That home run is historic, for more than one reason.

The young slugger fired a line to the second deck of the stands, pulling to his side, over right field, as the third consecutive home run by the Astros, which traveled 474 feet and drove the stadium crazy.

This is the longest hit by a Houston batter in the StatCast era and the longest at Minute Maid Park since Prince Fielder in 2011, with 486 feet.

With 474 feet it ties for eighth place among the longest home runs of the year in all of MLB.

Yordan reached 10 home runs and became the Astros player who needed the fewest games to reach a dozen, with just 27 games, leaving behind George Springer who achieved it in 38 games).
