The Cuban player for the Houston Astros, Yordan Álvarez, the newly crowned winner of the American League Rookie of the Year award, is visiting Cuba to reunite with his family.
In a video published on Youtube, the baseball-specialized platform Swing Completo revealed images of Álvarez's arrival on the Island, where he was received by his closest relatives.
The talented player from Tunas, who traveled to the Island in the company of his wife Mónica and his daughter Mya, will return to the United States on December 5th.
According to information from Swing Completo, the 22-year-old Álvarez will take the opportunity to visit the "Julio Antonio Mella" stadium, headquarters of the Leñadores de Las Tunas, the team with which he began his brief stint in the National Series.
In 2019, Yordan Álvarez had one of the best offensive seasons for a rookie in the recent history of Major League Baseball. His brilliant year was crowned with participation in the World Series, where the Astros fell in seven games against the Washington Nationals.
After leaving Cuba five years ago, the young ballplayer established his residence in Haiti and subsequently signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise.
However, his talent was not recognized by the Angels organization, so he was traded to the Astros, where he excelled in minor league categories, until making his debut on June 9, 2019.
