Charito
One of the great actresses of Cuba in the last 50 years. She has brilliantly ventured into theater, radio, television and film; as well as a voice actress, host and director. She was the most popular dramatic Cuban actress in the 1980s, thanks to unforgettable romantic heroines from classic Cuban and universal telenovelas.
The public enjoys one of her great theatrical performances. Susana Pérez López, daughter of Mariano Pérez Sierra and Gardencia López Molleda, was born in Marianao, Havana, on May 25, 1952. She has two children: Vanessa Domínguez (July 24, 1970) and Roberto Álvarez (April 26, 1976); the latter has appeared since the 1990s as a television presenter and actor, as well as in theater and film.
She began her artistic studies at the School of Training for Actors of the Cuban Institute of Broadcasting, in 1971. A center that was organized and directed by the great actor Alejandro Lugo, and which had as teachers great actors and directors of radio and television, such as Alden Knight, Alfredo Perojo, Julito Lot and other masters. Among the students of that memorable class were Cristina Obín, Míriam Vázquez, Natasha Díaz, Evelio Taillac, Irela Bravo, Ana Luisa Rubio, Cristina Palomino, Jorge Villazón, Maggie Castro, Teresita Rúa, Frank González, Annia Linares, María Esther Monteluz and Ana Nora Calaza.
She debuted as a booth announcer and later as a substitute actress on Cuban Television during 1972. From that date on, she has been a leading figure in more than 30 telenovelas, serials and television series, in which she has distinguished herself through her magnificent performances and the beauty of her face. In theater, she has worked under the direction of some of our most important playwrights, such as Carlos Díaz and José Antonio Rodríguez and on stages in Venezuela, Colombia, Spain and Bolivia.
She has taught acting classes at the Superior Institute of Art of Cuba, the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños and at the Universidad de Santo Tomás, in La Paz, Bolivia.
Cuban cinema, of course, has also benefited from her collaboration. She has developed her talent as a host of radio, television and entertainment shows, director of teleplays, stories, teletheaters, one-person shows and videoclips.
She has done countless dubbing work for various documentaries, animated drawings, and Brazilian series.
She was chosen as the host of the 1983 Gala, the 1992 OTI, the 1998 Cubadisco Award and the 1999 Caricatos Awards ceremony. Her voice appears on the CD "Tu querida presencia" by EGREM, dedicated in 1997 to the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter Ernesto Che Guevara.
Since February 2008, she decided to settle in the city of Miami, to work and live there with her daughter and her first granddaughter. In this city in the state of Florida, Susana has also made memorable performances in the 4 acting media.

Critical Assessment
Susana Pérez, by herself, is everything already. (Francisnet Díaz Rondón)
There is no artistic project involving the very popular Susana Pérez that she does not assume with passion and that, moreover, becomes news (José Luis Estrada Betancourt)
Susana Pérez has been able to transmit the tragic and comic aspects of Aurelia, that character to whom Giraudoux gave a redemptive madness. Because it is not only about her proven quality, but also that angel, or particular charisma, that she gives to her creations in any medium. She always performs remarkably. (Mireya Castañeda)
The ability to suggest and imbue sexual insinuations with sensuality is well expressed through the succulence and texture of the fruits of our tropics; in the scene after the banquet, neither Susana Pérez nor Fernando Hechavarría need words to express the impulse of libido and the pleasure they feel, the way Fernando savors the frutabomba says it all. The relationship of mutual understanding existing between eroticism and nature Sotto justifies in these words. (Lisandra Leyva Ramírez)
Susana Pérez, once again demonstrates the depth of her histrionic range and fits, with authenticity and distinction, an Aurelia that will make memorable the encounter with a classic brought to the stage of the Guiñol Nacional de Cuba by Carucha Camejo four decades ago. (Miguel Gerardo Valdés Pérez)
Our Susana Pérez, after decades as a young lady of television, has functioned well on the big screen and, above all, has forged a formidable theatrical career. (Amado del Pino)
Susana Pérez does not disappoint those who recognize her as a versatile and professional actress, even though here she does not exert herself too much, because the role does not require it. However, "she is" a Camila and her acting concentration stands out greatly (Pepe Murrieta)
But the great main attraction turns out to be Susana Pérez, she embellishes her work in the nuances of her voice, in the delicacy of her gestures and that knowing how to be always pulsing on stage, with her impressive presence. Precise in transitions, intense in silences, moving in apprehension and sorrow. (Gerardo Fulleda León)
