A graduate of the Instituto Superior de Artes de La Habana (ISA) in Performing Arts, she began her artistic career in Grupo Teatro Buendía, under the direction of Flora Lauten.
In film, she won the "Best Female Performance Award" for El elefante y la bicicleta, at the XVI Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana.
In 1993 she moved to Venezuela where she worked in several telenovelas and taught children's theater classes. In Miami she worked for fifteen years with Teatro Avante as an actress and artistic director, in productions such as Lila, la mariposa, Cenizas sobre el mar, La feria de los inventos, El vuelo del Quijote, El filántropo, Una tempestad, Yerma and La Celestina. Her productions have participated in numerous international theater festivals in Latin America and Europe.
For more than twelve years, she taught theater classes for children at Teatro Promoteo, and was also an acting instructor in the Professional Training Program for Actors at that school.
Among her most recent directing work is La última función, for Nobarte. In 2011 she founded El Ingenio Teatro with Rocío Carmona, where she has directed the productions Se busca un DJ and Bodas de Sangre, the children's production El cangrejito volador and the short-form play El Último viaje.
Lilliam is the daughter of filmmaker Pastor Vega and actress Daysi Granados, and wife of presenter Omar Moynelo with whom she has three children.
