Donald Trump's electoral campaign distributed a Spanish-language television advertisement on Wednesday, July 22 directed at Cubans in South Florida with references to exile, the food company Goya, and Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The voice of this advertisement was that of the well-known Cuban actress Susana Pérez, who in this way joins Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
In the 30-second advertisement, it is noted that there are Democrats who are "too extreme" and that virtual candidate Joe Biden is "too weak" to defend Americans from those forces that seek to defund the police.
The announcement and Susana's participation in it has generated strong controversy involving Cubans living on the island and those residing in Florida.
The actress has been criticized by the radio station CMHW of Santa Clara.
Meanwhile, Susana Pérez told the Nuevo Herald that she fully supported "President Trump in his desire to be reelected for a second term."
On the other hand, the actress has received hundreds of supportive comments from her followers in Cuba and abroad.
Pérez, 68 years old, said that she felt "happy" to be able to contribute her grain of sand to President Trump's campaign, whom she fully supports.
The actress has resided in Miami since 2008 and does advertising for the local cosmetic surgery firm My Cosmetic Surgery.
The video, which premiered on television stations in South Florida, accuses Biden of being "weak" and shows an archive photograph of him with Venezuelan ruler Nicolás Maduro. The advertisement describes Democrats as "extremists" and "socialists".
