The play "Huevos rotos" is the new project that will occupy actors Susana Pérez and Albertico Pujol at the beginning of 2022. The work, written by Jorge Sotolongo Jr. and directed by Yusnel Suárez, also features the performance of Carlos Acosta Milian.
Starting on January 7th at Micro Theater Miami, residents of the city will be able to enjoy this production, which, as a synopsis, tells the story of the renowned Dr. Cabreja (Pujol), "who surprises Blanca (Susana Pérez) and her husband Roberto (Carlos Acosta Milian) with a very singular diagnosis: She is feminine on the outside and masculine on the inside. Will their marriage be able to survive this medical verdict?"
Recently in an interview for aCuba, actress Rachel Cruz spoke about the incredible and difficult experience it was for her to do microtheater. In that sense, all the works premiered in this venue, including "Huevos rotos," are performed every Friday and Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., which results in each play being performed six times per session.
The concept of these theatrical productions was born in 2009 in Madrid. Under the concept of Microteatro por Dinero, 50 artists including directors, authors, and actors presented this innovative theatrical project in an old brothel on Ballesta Street, in the heart of the Malasaña neighborhood. The space was ceded by the TriBall association to Miguel Alcantud, the ideologist and coordinator of the project.
Later in 2012, Microteatro landed in the United States at the hands of Jorge Monje and became Microtheater Miami, where works are presented in shipping containers.
For his part, Albertico Pujol has already ventured into this venue alongside recently deceased actor Abel Rodríguez, in the play "Casi gay." Micro Theater Miami has always welcomed the Cuban theatrical scene. In previous months it organized an entire season dedicated to Cuba.
A few days ago Susana Pérez announced in a live broadcast through her Instagram account that the play will be at Micro Teatro Miami at the Spanish Cultural Center, but not in the classic container, but rather in a small room.
In the same broadcast, Yusnel Suárez described the play as fun. "I am very happy to work with these three actors, who are undoubtedly the cream of the crop of Cuban acting and it is a wonderful opportunity to have them together."
