Cuban radio announcer and journalist by profession. Member of the Film, Radio and Television Association of the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC). She is a National Television Prize winner. Founder of the Broadcasting Chair, she has been an active part of it for 25 years.
She studied music at the "Ignacio Cervantes" Conservatory and Dramatic Art at the National School of Art, ENA.
In 1975 she joined the Artistic Ensemble of the Revolutionary Armed Forces where she worked as an actress. Subsequently she studied broadcasting and graduated as a journalist in 1984. Since 1980 she alternated her work as a television and radio presenter and animator with her work as a television writer and reporter.
She came to broadcasting by chance; she was working in the ideological and cultural sphere of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) of Cuba as a writer of texts for informative audiovisuals, and some colleagues responsible for the Youth Festival that would be held in Havana in 1978 asked her to read a text on camera to make a documentary about this event and at that precise moment they proposed that she stay doing that work. She had acquired knowledge of voice and diction from her studies in Dramatic Art at the National School of Art.
She has worked as an announcer for the National Television News. Presenter of programs such as "Estilos" and animator of the main Shows and artistic Galas broadcast by Cuban television.
Rosalía has presented top-level political acts, has described May First Parades and Rallies, Combat People's Marches and has acted as an announcer in outdoor programs, recorded or live, broadcast by television.
She represented Cuba abroad in Television programs, among other countries, in the German Democratic Republic, Mexico and Bulgaria. She has been a deputy to a Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power. She completed an internationalist mission in the sister Republic of Angola, as a member of an artistic delegation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, during the war against South African invasion (1976).
She is part of the Presidency of the Broadcasting Chair of the Center for Radio and Television Studies. She conducted and directed spaces on television such as "Mientras llega la noche" with daily frequency in the afternoons on Tele Rebelde and "Como cada domingo", "Con luz propia", "Estilos".
She has chaired the Commission for Evaluation of Announcers of Cuban Television.
At the concluded VII Congress of the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists, for her artistic and personal merits, she was elected Member of its National Committee and President of the Film, Radio and Television Association.
She currently presents a cultural musical and poetry space focused on Latin American art at La Casa de la Música of EGREM on Galiano and Neptuno.
A Coffee with Rosalía
The space "A Coffee with Rosalía" began with weekly frequency at the HABANECIENDO Pianobar at the Casa de la Música on Galiano. This meeting has as its main objective the recovery of the memory of Latin American and Cuban poetry and music of all times. It is supported by the participation of a Musical Group made up of Roberto González on piano, José M. Baeza on guitar, Reynaldo Campoalegre on percussion and young singers Miguel Oliver and Rachel Valladares.
Alternatively, other Cuban and foreign figures attend who recreate that repertoire of troubadour music, waltzes, rancheras, boleros, tangos and other genres. The presentation is hosted by Rosalía Arnáez who, in a familiar and intimate atmosphere, dialogues with the audience about diverse topics.
