Edith Massola is one of the most recognizable faces of Cuban Television. There is no Cuban who doesn't know who she is and who doesn't have an opinion about her. Inevitable things when you've been in the entertainment world for decades.

Ironically, Edith didn't direct her first steps toward television, the medium that would make her successful. She studied dance and arrived first at the cinema in 1985 in "Una novia para David" by Orlando Rojas in which she beat the beautiful Jacqueline Arenal in the casting, who was then studying ballet.

That performance was what would open the doors of television for her. She worked in shows like "Sabadazo" and memorable telenovelas like "El año que viene", "Salir de noche" and "Al compás del Son".

However, her consecration would undoubtedly be in "23 y M", which has been in prime time slots on Cuban Television for 20 years.

Edith arrived at 23 y M "by chance", to replace Carlos Otero who had started the project, but decided to abandon it after three months, which was an immense challenge for her. She was then a young woman of 29 years old and she injected the show with freshness and a very personal style of hosting that made the guests feel very comfortable. Soon there was no personality in Cuba in the entertainment world who didn't want to appear on 23 y M. For those who were just starting out in the world of entertainment, being invited to the program was the best launching platform.

Her relaxed way of hosting was not well-liked among more conservative viewers who considered Edith "clownish" and "vulgar"; but she won over the vast majority, tired of the stiff and rigid presenters that until then flooded the television spaces of the Island.

She also works in theater, in cinema and hosts shows at the Salón Rojo of the Capri Hotel in the early morning hours.

Edith is the only Cuban female presenter who has worked on Channel 41 América TV in Miami. During the two weeks she hosted the program, the audience ratings kept going up; and that even though she set as a condition for accepting the job that – under no circumstances – political topics would be discussed.

After turning 50, Edith increasingly considers having some cosmetic surgery to improve herself. Just a slight "touch", nothing exaggerated. She has seen how women end up when their hands go too far and expresses that she would never be crazy enough to inject botox… That would take away much of the mobility of her face; and she lives from "making faces".

Edith is the mother of Natalia Tápanes (1988) and Paula Rodríguez (1998).
