Javier Jústiz Ferrer

Justiz is a Cuban basketball player who plays in the pivot position. He currently plays for Tecnyconta Zaragoza in the ACB League.

He played for Santiago de Cuba until age 12 and had to stop due to problems at home.

He resumed at age 16, but had to abandon the sport again because he didn't have money to buy shoes in his size. When he managed to get them, he returned and played three seasons in the Cuban Superior Basketball League. In the 2011-2012 season, he played 16 games averaging 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. In the 2012-2013 season, he played 2 games averaging 0 points per game. In 2015, already as a starter, he played 29 games averaging 14.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 2 blocks per game.

In April 2015, Bucaneros de La Guaira gave him his first international and professional opportunity, filling the void left by Spanish player Eduardo Hernández-Sonseca. His coach there, Luis Guil, stated that "he was a good option for the future, even in the NBA."

In 2015 it was confirmed that he would join Argentine basketball, signing on October 16 of that year with Estudiantes de Concordia for the 2015-16 National Basketball League. He played 55 games with the Verde team averaging 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 27.5 minutes per game. He suffered an injury in November 2015 that forced the team to temporarily sign Mychal Lemar Ammons while Javier recovered. In his second season, he played in the 2016-17 National Basketball League, having a great campaign with averages of 13.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks across 56 games. He was awarded as a member of the league's best five-man team in the pivot position.

On August 27, 2017, his arrival at the blue and garnet team was confirmed to play in the 2017-18 National Basketball League and the 2018 League of the Americas. The Cuban had a contract with Estudiantes de Concordia; however, he left Entre Ríos to join the two-time National Basketball League champion. Justiz filled the vacancy left by Jerome Meyinsse, who continued his career at Atenas de Córdoba.

On March 25, 2018, he was crowned champion of the 2018 League of the Americas. On April 30 of the same year, by defeating Hispano Americano, he secured, with games remaining to be played, finishing the regular season in first place heading into the playoffs.

He has represented the Cuban national team at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, where he averaged 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in six games played, finishing in fourth place, the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, in which tournament he played 4 games averaging 7.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1 block per game in 18.17 minutes per game; Cuba finished in tenth place in the mentioned 2015 FIBA Americas and the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship where he played 5 games and averaged 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds in 5 games, finishing in sixth place. From the call-up to Centrobasket 2014, his debut on the national team, he became a regular player on the squad.

He was called up to play in the FIBA Americas Qualification for the 2019 Basketball World Cup where the Cuban national team has not yet achieved any victories after playing four games.
