The Cuban Javier Justiz, a member of the Spanish club Casademont Zaragoza, of the ACB Liga Endesa basketball league, will not compete for the rest of the 2020 season in that competition due to an injury to his left knee.
At 27 years old and 2.10 meters tall, the Cuban basketball player will have to undergo arthroscopy to fix a meniscus tear, which will entail between three and four months of inactivity, according to what was published by the Zaragoza newspaper El Heraldo de Aragón.
The newspaper adds in its digital edition that this news is a severe blow to the team, which loses its main reference in the inside game in the decisive stretch of the season.
In this way, the Santiago-born center will not be able to participate in the Copa del Rey, which will take place in Málaga from February 13 to 16; in addition to being absent from the direct elimination rounds of the Champions League and possible playoff rounds for the Liga Endesa title.
In this regard, the prestigious newspaper MARCA notes that the surgical intervention will take place in Barcelona and will be performed by Doctor Jaime Perramón.
Justiz participated this season in 16 games, with averages of 7 points and 2 rebounds in 15 minutes of play; while he has played 11 matches in the continental competition, with figures of 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in just over a quarter of an hour.
The Cuban joined the Aragonese squad in August 2018, coming from the Argentine club San Lorenzo de Almagro, and since then has been a key piece in the high performance of the Zaragozans in these last two seasons.
