The Cuban pivot for Casademont Zaragoza Javier Justiz predicted last Friday that Latin American basketball "will continue growing" following the good results of Latin American teams at the World Championship.
"I was very surprised by the presence of the Dominican Republic in the second round," confessed the Cuban in statements to the EFE agency at the presentation of the Endesa League 2019-2020 at the WiZink Center in Madrid.
"I congratulate the Argentines very much, apart from the NBA I know almost all of them, I've played with some of them and against them too. I was very happy to see Argentina reach the final, I rooted for them a bit," he commented.
The player from the Aragonese team pointed out that if the Latin American basketball player "continues with this mentality" he will have "a lot of level" for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, although "it will be very tough."
Although his team, Cuba, is "a bit behind," Justiz hopes that "more Cuban players keep coming out so that the national team keeps improving."
"I want to continue contributing and helping Cuba's national team," said the 2.10-meter tall pivot.
Regarding the start of the new Endesa League season, which begins its calendar on September 24, the player, born in Santiago de Cuba, believes it will be a "very tough season" since they have "two tournaments to face."
"All the teams have reinforced themselves well, but we have too. We are eager for the league to begin, the coaching staff is demanding the maximum from us because this season is going to be very tough," added the center.
"Let's hope things go well for us, and I as a player also want to maintain the image I finished last season with," he concluded.
