Cuban baseball player who plays as an infielder for the Chicago White Sox in Major League Baseball. Previously played for the Boston Red Sox.
Moncada made his debut in the National Series with the Cienfuegos team in the 2012-2013 season, when he was 17 years old, and was considered one of the best baseball players of his generation. He participated in national championships in only 2 seasons (52 and 53).

In 2015 he came to the United States and began playing in the minor leagues.
Yoan Manuel Moncada made his Major League debut in 2016 for the Boston Red Sox. A team for which he was considered the #1 prospect in 2016 (#7 in MLB).
On December 6, 2016, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox along with other prospects in exchange for star left-handed pitcher Chris Sale.
Moncada was the main piece of this trade. Already in 2017 he began his time with the South Chicago franchise.
In 8 years in MLB, the Cuban has recorded 624 hits and 84 home runs. Displaying an offensive line of .255/ .336/ .429; driving in 304 runs and scoring 336.
In 2019 the Cuban had his best year, averaging .315 offensively and connecting 25 home runs. He even received votes for the MVP award (21st place).
From 2017 to 2022 he has played 6 seasons with the Chicago White Sox, where he plays third base.
2022 was not the best of his years in Major League Baseball, he did not start due to injury and at the end of August he was also placed on the 10-day injured list, yet he was able to play in 104 of the 162 games of the season.
Defensively he played all his games at the hot corner, in 859.2 innings he committed 5 errors for an average of .980; he participated in 18 double plays.
For his career, he has accumulated 1011 hits, with 207 doubles, 34 triples and 126 home runs.

In 2023 he was part of the Cuba team in the World Baseball Classic and made the regular roster as third base. The Cienfuegos native was on fire during the Classic, which led him to be named third baseman of the All-Star Team of the tournament.
In 2023, Moncada has 12 hits in 7 games. He displays an offensive line of .400/ .419/ .733; he has connected two home runs, has 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs.
"El Yoyo" has a guaranteed contract through 2024 and for 2025 the White Sox have the option on him. The Cuban will have to maintain his pace to prove his worth.
