Cuban baseball coach who has managed Matanzas (baseball team).
He was born and raised in the mill town of the España Republicana sugar central, in the municipality of Perico, Matanzas.
He served as first base coach for the Henequeneros managed by "Sile" Junco who won the XXX National Baseball Series and the XXXI National Baseball Series in the early 1990s.
Armando Ferrer has expressed that working alongside Sile was an education. He had charisma, a very personal method, he knew when to tighten and loosen the screw. He spoke clearly to the ballplayers, and almost all of them held him in affection. He was a man of few words, but he knew how to say what was necessary at each moment. He strongly agreed with my appointment and we communicated almost daily; for me it is important to listen to him because he has never distanced himself from baseball.
After winning ten provincial championships and having a career as manager and physical trainer in Italy, Holland, Spain, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Russia, and Mexico, he made his debut at the helm of the Cocodrilos de Matanzas in the LIX National Baseball Series.
After 29 years of waiting, the Yumurino team reached first place by defeating Camagüey (baseball team) in the final playoff in six disputed games.
