Popular comic actor, entertainer and humorous writer for television, radio, theater and film. National Humor Award 2018.

Considered among the group of Cuba's most recognized humorists, he is characterized by developing a purely Cuban customary humor, with scenes that reflect Cuban wit with great ingenuity and encourage reflection.

Octavio Armando Rodríguez Fernández was born in the City of Havana on January 19, 1947.
Author of most of his monologues and also writes for other humorists. "Churrisco" belongs to the artist catalog of the exclusive Havana nightclub "Dos Gardenias" as well as the Humor-Club "Cocodrilo". He presents his stand up show at the select show restaurant "Amelia" in the Miramar Trade Center. He received recognition for maintaining his solo show "Churrisco en vivo" for more than 1 year to a full theater and with critical success at the National Theater of Guiñol of Cuba. This show full of music with international and intimate projection he shares with his son Alejandro Rodriguez "Churrisco Jr".

As an entertainer he has performed in numerous shows, highlighting the International Festivals Boleros de Oro. He received the special award "MARIPOSA" for hosting the Festival in 1992, as well as the Nicolás Guillén Order granted by UNEAC for his contribution to Cuban culture. In 2004, he received the Distinction for National Culture granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba. He also has the diploma of Distinguished Visitor and the Key to the City of Veracruz, Mexico.

He is founder of the Humor Promotion Center where he is part of the Artistic Board. He is President of the Humorists Section of the Association of Performing Artists of UNEAC and President of the Artistic Council of the prestigious Caricatos Agency.

He has participated as President of the Jury for the National Humorous Acting Award "Caricatos" in 2006 and in 2007.

On repeated occasions he has been president and jury member of the National Humor Festival "Aquelarre". He is a member of the Culture and Tourism Commission of UNEAC. At this time, he is preparing the humorous-musical magazine "La noche arde" which will air in the summer on Cubavisión and Cubavisión Internacional with script and hosting by Churrisco himself and direction by the experienced Julio Fuentes.

In 2009 he obtained an important nomination: National Humor Award.

Currently, Churrisco, as he is known by everyone in Cuba, as well as abroad, maintains close ties with the Cuban public through his live performances in Theaters, Radio, Television and Tourist Centers of the country.

Since 2005, he is host of the popular program "El gusto es mío" lasting one hour. A program about humor that is broadcast by Radio Taíno. This program received an award at the National Radio Festival in 2005. It is considered a heritage program and still remains on the air with great radio audience.

Film Work
In film, the distinguished director Santiago Álvarez directed him in 8 Humorous Newsreels of ICAIC with production by Francisco Puñal. He participated with a special performance in the feature film "NADA" by director Juan Carlos Cremata, a film that received several international awards, including the "GOYA" award.

International Tours
On foreign stages he has performed at the "Octubre" theater in Moscow, in the USSR (1989) and in Mérida, Campeche, Ciudad del Carmen, in Mexico (1991), with the show "De Cuba te traigo" and again in Campeche, Mérida, Villahermosa and Ciudad del Carmen in 1992, as a member of the delegation to the I Cuban Humor Conference. In 1992, he performed successfully in Veracruz and Jalapa, Mexico. In Veracruz he was declared by the City Council "Distinguished Visitor" of the city.

In 1993, success was repeated in Mérida, Campeche, Ciudad del Carmen, Villahermosa, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, San Cristóbal de las Casas and Comitán, Chiapas with his Humorous-Musical show "CHURRISCO, S.A." accompanied by the Group "Son de Cuba".

In 1994, he toured 10 Mexican cities with the show "Ven con Churrisco a la Habana". In 1995, he performed with great success in a tour lasting 4 months as presenter and comedian of the show "Soy de la Habana" in Mexico, D.F., Cuernavaca, Acapulco, Tulancingo, San Juan del Rio, San Miguel de Allende and León, Guanajuato.

In 1995, he presented the coronation of the Kings of the Campeche Carnival, invited by the Carnival Commission of that state along with Eugenio Derbez. In that same year 1995, he performed with great success at the VIII National Book Fair of Mexico, with his show "Hijo de Tigre Pintito", on this occasion he was awarded the trophy "AL MERITO ARTISTICO", for the best show of the year.

In 1996, he presented the show "Ven con Churrisco a la Habana" in the City of Campeche with extraordinary public success. In May he performed again in the Aztec country with the show "Visión de la Habana" accompanied by the Musical Group Visión. In December of that same year he was invited to Mexico to participate in the IX National Book Fair where he premiered the show "Churrisco 97" and obtained for the second consecutive time the trophy "AL MERITO ARTISTICO", for the best show of the year.

In 1999, he celebrated 20 years as an actor in Mexico with the Humorous Group "La Oveja Negra" with great public and critical success.

In 2003 he made his first record production with the SDA record label from Argentina "Churrisco para siempre", an album that currently has its second and third installment. In 2004, he premiered in Mexico, "Hijo de tigre, pintito" with Alejandro Rodríguez, Churrisco Jr. with extensive press coverage.

In 2004, he performed in Caracas at the Teresa Carreño Theater during the World Festival of Youth and Students.

In September 2004, he presented in Campeche and Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, the humorous musical magazine "Como han pasado los años" with actors Alejandro Rodríguez and Alfredo Oliva, a show that was repeated on several occasions by public request.

In 2005, he presented together with Kike Quiñones and Alejandro Rodríguez the show "Gente en Black y Negro" with great success. In that same year he participated in the Festival "Carcajadas 2005" in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he participated in programs on Radio Nacional de Argentina, on channels 7, 11 and 13 of television and in performances at the Bauen theater on Callao and Corrientes streets.

In 2007, he presented the show "Churrisco aquí" in Cancún, Quintana Roo. This show was taken to television and theater. He also participated in the International Ophthalmology Congress, Cancún 2007 with a special performance for delegates at the Riu Palace Hotel.

In the same year 2007, by invitation of the government of the state of Quintana Roo, he participates in Cancún in a massive and successful tribute to the legendary Leopoldo Fernández "Trespatines" of whom he is a maternal nephew. He also presented broadcasts of the Tremenda Corte on Radio Ayuntamiento and performed successfully on television broadcasts of the Televisa S.A. network.

In October 2010 he participated in the Boston International Humor Festival 2010, and visited the cities of New York and Boston.
