Mario Sardiñas

Outstanding Cuban actor, creator of the character Chequera, whom he portrays in the humorous program Vivir del Cuento.

Sardiñas is one of the founders of Vivir del cuento, the program most followed by Cuban viewers. His character, roguish and scheming, is the foil to Pánfilo, the protagonist of the series. I am not exaggerating if I say that one of the editions of Vivir del Cuento that most shook Cubans was the one broadcast on December 28, 2015, when the definitive closure of that humorous space was simulated.
He considers that his artistic growth has been enormous from Los amigos de Pepito to Vivir del Cuento, although he is aware that he still has much to learn.
Without any hesitation, he acknowledges that Silva is one of the most effective, creative and daring actors that Cuban humor has today.
I was worried about being a foil because I had never played that kind of role before. There are people who don't understand it, but I explain to those who ask me that being a foil is like being the setter in a volleyball game so that Pánfilo can spike," he explains about his role.
We receive tremendous training in each rehearsal from 10:30 in the morning until 2:30 in the afternoon. First a brainstorm is done with the screenwriter. He takes the notes home and the next day he comes back with the script, which we all read the following day.
We are very rigorous with the script. If one comes in that we don't like or that perhaps didn't satisfy us, we go back on it until we're all pleased with what we want.
