Juan Carlos Roque Moreno

Renowned Cuban actor with outstanding participation in television, film, and theater.

He was born in Havana on April 4, 1965.

He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medical Sciences of Havana.

He abandoned Medicine to dedicate himself to the performing arts. The decisive impulse came from maestro Fernando Pérez when he asked him to play a role in his award-winning film Suite Habana: that of a physician who, in his spare time, worked as a clown.

Working with the highly acclaimed Havana filmmaker, whom he admires as an artist and as a paradigm of Cubanness, motivated him to make the big leap: from doctor to actor.

Among other works as an actor, the teleplays El lado del velo, by filmmaker Elena Palacios, El cuarto del anticuario, structured in four productions with director Delso Aquino; and in the controversial TV series Diana, by filmmaker Rudy Mora, stand out, from which he recalled the unconditional support offered to him by the charismatic actor Fernando Echevarría.

He had a notable participation in the telenovelas Bajo el mismo sol, La sal del paraíso, La otra esquina…

The actor is also a member of the Network of Artists of the Unite Campaign, launched by the United Nations to end violence against women and girls. One could expect nothing less from someone inhabited by sensitivity, that quality that makes him torn between two great passions: Medicine and acting.
