Actor Jorge Losada Moreno made his debut as a reciter on Radio Mambí at age 18, motivated by heartbreak. He studied philosophy in the United States thanks to a scholarship, and returned to Cuba to do what he loved most: acting.
After studying at the Municipal Academy of Dramatic Art, he joined the theatrical group "Rita Montaner" for a long time. In 1964 he participated in the film Soy Cuba, by Soviet director Mijail Kalatózov, and that film was followed by: No hay sábado sin sol, Maluala, Techo de Vidrio, Patakin, Plácido, Alicia en el país de las Maravillas and many others.
As an actor and subdirector of the Lyric Studio "Alina Sánchez", Losada performed on important stages around the world, and after the dissolution of that company he joined the Musical Theater of Havana, where his presence was memorable in the productions: "Maestra vida", "Pedro Navaja" and "El caballero de Pogolotti", a character for which he received the Acting Award given by UNEAC.
With over 66 years of work, this actor who loves music has much to tell. He is cultured and lucid, a Small Screen Award winner, also recipient of the Caricato Award in 2019, who became popular thanks to the dramatic and humorous characterizations he took on in television.
"Los abuelos se rebelan", "Los papaloteros", the police drama "Día y Noche", "Las huérfanas de la Obrapía", and "Pateando la lata", are some of the productions of which he keeps happy memories, though he recognizes as his favorite work: the television film "Mejilla con Mejilla", directed by Delso Aquino, in which he had the pleasure of acting alongside the admired Rosita Fornés.
Amid celebrations for his 90 years, Jorge Losada returns to television thanks to an invitation from directors Heiking Hernández and Jorge Molina. The artist feels grateful for the reception from the telenovela "Renacer" team, the attention he received, and the opportunity to reconnect with the stage.
Although he is one of the longest-lived actors in the profession, Losada affirms that this is his last telenovela, but with him you never know since he has a fresh mind and a thousand proven histrionic resources from his career. Professionalism defies age's ailments and his comedic abilities remain.
Even in brief appearances, the actor will allow us to thank his presence in the work written by Yoel Monzón as he plays a dignified gossip, a strange mixture that will remain in the memory of viewers, while conveying the nuances of the subtext with apparent innocence.
Jorge Losada comes alive with the affection he receives wherever he arrives, always carrying a thousand anecdotes to share, professional teachings, and much love.
