Ileana Wilson

If there is an actress with experience in our media, it is Ileana Wilson. She achieved popularity with her character María Merced in the telenovela Pasión y Prejuicio and continues to enchant Cubans to this day with her masterful performances.

She has not stopped working since she entered the artistic world more than four decades ago. Through perseverance and her interpretive quality, she has managed to transcend in this profession and deliver her art to nations like Spain, where her participation in film, theater, and television has made her one of the most valued actresses of her generation.

She was born and raised in Santiago de Cuba. Her parents, of Cuban origin, supported her to study Performing Arts at the Instituto Superior de Artes in the city of La Habana, where she was able to train with great masters of interpretation, singing and dance, among whom are My first years in acting happened at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), where I trained and learned from great teachers such as: Ana Viñas, Luis and Nieda, Flora Lauten, Rine Leal, Sacha, Raquel Carrió, Fuxá, Graciela Pogolotti, Sonia P. Biotti, Armando Suárez, among others. She graduated in 1987.

Once graduated, she worked in different theater, film and television companies. She began to feel public recognition from the telenovela Pasión y Prejuicio, by Eduardo Macías. That character (María Merced) gave me the opportunity to show a large part of everything I had learned and I received it as a gift. I had already passed the baptism of fire working a year before with the master José Antonio Rodríguez, and with actresses of the caliber of the great Susana Pérez, Tahimí Alvariño, Samuel Claxton, Aramis Delgado, and being directed by Silvano Suárez and Jacki Ortega. These were wonderful experiences I had in my early days that enriched my career.

She has been part of very recognized casts in Cuba and Spain, among which are "La Ópera de los tres centavos" directed by A. Viñas. "Baltazar", "Plácido" Armando S. del Villar. "La Celestina", "Inventos de un Escaparate" J.A Rodríguez, "Otra Tempestad" Flora Lauten, "Münchhausen" Salva Volta, "La Loba" G.V, "La duda" D.F and the Zarzuela "Cecilia Valdés".

She has participated in many television series such as "Cuéntame", "Hospital Central", "La que se avecina" and won her first award as a breakthrough actress in the telenovela "Pasión y Prejuicios".

She starred in the Cuban-Basque film "Maité" and has shared film casts in films such as "Gallegos", "Amor verticalmente", "La boda", "Marsella" and "4 latas", among others.
