Giselle Pons

Cuban soprano.

She was born in La Habana. From a very early age she felt attracted to singing and joined the Children's Choir of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, directed by Rafael Somavilla.

She completed her vocal training with Zoila Gálvez at the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán in 1969 and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music from the Instituto Superior de Arte in 1983.

She joined the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba in 1970, participated in the choruses of the Cuban premiere of Halka by Moniuszko (1971) and began to perform small roles in operas and zarzuelas, until in 1980, she was selected to premiere the title role of Soyán by Berroa.

Later we see her in La médium (Mónica), La bohème (Musetta), La serva padrona (Despina), El teléfono (Lucy), Los payasos (Nedda).

She has also worked for television and nightclubs.
