With 52 years of artistic life, all in the Supercharanga de Cuba or Orquesta de la familia cubana, Pedrito died due to respiratory failure caused by the severe heart failure he suffered.
Musicians, journalists and other experts recalled that, for several years, Rivero González and Rogelio Mendoza (Nono) made up one of the best duos of danceable music in Cuba, along with the great Aragón orchestra.
Founded on December 21, 1963, the Orquesta Original de Manzanillo possesses a tremendous body of work, and demonstrates the possibility of reaching great heights, with effort and talent, even when living far from the capital. Their performances, endowed with an authentic and particular sound, have been applauded by audiences in Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Germany, Belgium, Russia, France, Canada, Spain, Ivory Coast, Togo, Mali and other countries.
