Isolda Miari

Descendant of an illustrious and long family of Cuban musicians of Italian origin: Alfonso Miari Bizzarri (1830-1906), flutist, born in Modena, Italy, settled in Cuba since 1856 (great-grandfather); Rafael Miari Agüero (1873-.19¿?), son of the former and Rafael Miari de la Torre, composer, author of the opera Ben Hur (grandfather and father, respectively).

Isolda Miari is founder of the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba, in 1962. After joining the choir of the group, she made her debut as a soloist in the title role of Luisa Fernanda, by Moreno Torroba (1963).

She stood out especially in works from the Spanish zarzuela repertoire: Los gavilanes, by Guerrero (Adriana), La del Soto del Parral, by Soutullo and Vert (Aurora), La verbena de la Paloma, by Bretón (Seña Rita).

She was a very dedicated young woman and rose to star in operas, zarzuelas, and operettas. She has also distinguished herself in concert halls.
