Born in La Habana. She received singing lessons from Mariana de Gonitch, Ninón Lima, Adolfo Casas, Hugo Marcos, Manuel Pena, Ramón Calzadilla and Giuseppe Pastorello and completed in 1990 a Bachelor's Degree in Music, specializing in singing, at the Instituto Superior de Arte.

She began her artistic career as an amateur in the Conjunto Artístico de las FAR. Guest artist of the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba, she debuted in the premiere of the definitive version of Amalia Batista, first as Carmita (1979, under the direction of the author with whom she also participated in the sound recording published by EGREM), later she played the title role (1982 and 1986).
She also interpreted the leading role of La traviata, alongside Hungarian tenor Janos Bandi (1987), participated in the world premiere of Hemingway, by Y. Kasarian and the exhumation of the opera by Sánchez de Fuentes, El caminante, in a production directed by Alicia Alonso.
She has also sung the operas Paria, by Moniuszko (1991) and Ecue Yamba O (1990), Tosca (1998); the American musical Cabaret, by J. Kander (1995) and the zarzuela La del soto del parral (1997).
She has performed abroad, with the TLNC anthology, Mi querida Habana (Spain, 1992 and Costa Rica, 1993); she later joined the operetta company of the Teatro Bellini, in Naples directed by Tato Russo and toured all of Italy between 1993 and 1994, performing the works Al Cavallino Bianco, by Benatzki, La vedova allegra and Scugnizza, by Costa.
She has also performed in Hungary, Nicaragua, Mexico and Dominican Republic. She has obtained important awards in national singing competitions: UNEAC, 1988 (First Prize); "Rodrigo Prats", 1988 (Grand Prize) and Escenas Líricas of the UNEAC, 1989 (First Prize).
