Andy Díaz Hernández

Andy Díaz Hernández is a triple jumper born in Havana, Cuba, who has competed internationally for Italy since obtaining Italian citizenship. Representing Cuba earlier in his career, he later moved to Italy and became one of the sport's most consistent performers worldwide.

He won the bronze medal in the men's triple jump at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with a mark of 17.64 meters. He went on to claim the European Indoor Athletics Championship title in 2025, and was crowned World Indoor champion in both 2025 and 2026.

On August 15-16, 2026, Díaz won gold at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham with a leap of 18.15 meters, an Italian national record and the best mark in the world this season. The jump ranks as the fourth-best in triple jump history, behind only Britain's Jonathan Edwards (18.29m, the world record), American Christian Taylor (18.21m) and Spain's Jordan Díaz, another Cuban-born athlete (18.18m). In the same Birmingham final, Díaz edged fellow Cuban-born jumper Pedro Pichardo, who competes for Portugal and took silver with 17.76 meters.
