Ana Carla Maza Sierra
Ana Carla Maza Sierra was born on June 14, 1995, in Havana, Cuba, into a deeply musical family. Her father is the acclaimed Chilean pianist of Mapuche heritage Carlos Maza, and her mother is Cuban guitarist Mirza Sierra. That dual Caribbean and Latin American cultural inheritance would permanently shape her sound and artistic identity.
She began studying cello at the age of eight and first performed on stage in Havana when she was barely ten. At thirteen she participated in the collective album Carlos Maza en Familia, and the following year she recorded on Quererte. She studied at conservatories in Cuba and Spain before moving to Paris in 2012, where she continued her training at the Conservatory and launched a solo career performing classical, jazz, and world music across Europe.
In 2018 she released Alma, her debut original album, inspired by the musical traditions of her childhood — from Brazilian bossa nova to Cuban habanera, interwoven with Latin rhythms, jazz harmonies, and classical technique. In 2020, at just 24, she presented La Flor, a solo cello and voice album that took her back to her most intimate roots. In 2023 she released Caribe, a tribute to her Cuban origins, and in 2026 she presented ALAMAR, her most recent work, recorded as a homage to the Havana neighborhood where she was born.
Internationally recognized for her virtuosity as a cellist and the strength of her songwriting, Ana Carla Maza Sierra has performed on some of the most prestigious stages and festivals in Europe and the world. She currently lives in Tarragona, Spain.
