Alberto Ruiz Pérez, singer, composer and director, born in Havana.
He began as a vocalist for typical orchestras. He founded the Conjunto Cubavana. He created a way of singing Cuban bolero and had numerous followers. He also belonged to the Casino and Tropicavana groups.
He began his musical life performing in charangas, but after a period he was given the opportunity to create a group to perform at the Zombie Club cabaret, located on Zulueta Street between Ánimas and Virtudes, four blocks from Central Park in Havana.
Ruiz Pérez began recruiting musicians for his new project, thus he contacted Tony Palau and José Florián on trumpets, Yoyo Casteleiro on piano, Carlos Patato Valdés on tumbadoras, Armando Peraza on bongos, Alberto Ruiz as lead vocalist, Carlos Querol on guitar and vocals, Orlando Vallejo on vocals and Guillermo Aran (Bebo) on bass. Also on different occasions worked Mario Recio, Alejandro Vivar (El Negro Vivar), Laito Sureda, Roberto Faz, Ñico Cevedo, Alberto Almentero and Rey Días Calbet.
As can be seen, the group is filled with stellar figures of popular music, the rhythm and characteristics of the group are given by Alberto Ruiz with his voice, his unique way of singing, the soneados themes and an overflowing motivation of emotional charge.
