Pedro Gómez

Born in Pinar del Río, the lyric singer. First a tenor, later a baritone.

He studied singing with the Russian contralto Maria Pissarewskaya, who was based in Cuba.

He was a founding member and first director of the Lyric Theater «Ernesto Lecuona» in Pinar del Río (1962). There he performed in the productions of Bastián y Bastiana (r.t.), by Mozart and Rita (Pepe), by Donizetti. He was a guest artist at the Lyric Theater of Holguín «Rodrigo Prats» —Luisa Fernanda (Javier), 1964— and at the National Lyric Theater of Cuba —La verbena de la Paloma (Julián), 1965—

He has been established in Puerto Rico for many years, where he continued his career as a performer and promoter of lyric art.
