Will Campa Presents Album for the 2022 Campaign

December 25, 2021

At Casa de la Música Habana with the press and guests, and in his last presentation of the year, Will Campa revealed the details of a recording that has already been playing on different media for several months, and which seems essential to conclude this difficult stage in a positive way in the style of Wil Campa and his "Zapato Nuevo".

Along with this album, he unveiled EGREM's new Communications Campaign for this end of the year, which will be the identity that will accompany the products, services and actions for the different audiences seeking our brand throughout 2022. A campaign that, adapted to the times and to our Company's commitment, will be called: "La Música Vive".

Sergio Peña, director of ISDI and image advisor for EGREM, presents the campaign to the press.

Returning to the excellent recording that we officially presented today, it is no secret to anyone that when we hear about Wil Campa we immediately associate him with extremely popular songs such as "La bambina" or "Que me quiten lo baila´o", songs with a very well-defined Caribbean sound. Let us not forget that the versatility, talent and impressive vocal resources that this artist possesses have undoubtedly taken him to a higher level in his musical career.

With an impeccable trajectory, Wil, who stood out during his time with the Orchestra of the extraordinary flutist Orlando Valle "Maraca", and after embarking on a solo career with his group "La Gran Unión", brings us "Zapato Nuevo", his most recent release. Under the musical production of the stellar Roniel Alfonso, we find a handful of authentically Cuban creations, danceable and enthusiastic. The material covers areas very close to son and salsa, all the way to timba, even with hints of rumba as demonstrated in "Pinta Pintor", with the special participation of Osain del Monte.

In 12 tracks, the songwriting contributions of Roniel himself stand out, not forgetting the renowned Cándido Fabré, as well as proven practitioners of the genre: Alfredo Victorero, Jessee Suárez, Carlos Cartaya and Wil Campa himself. Other musicians complete the mix: Alexander Abreu with his exquisite trumpet, trombonist Amaury Pérez, Yuniet Lombida on saxophone, Yusef Díaz on keyboards; not forgetting Eduardo Ramos, Alejandro Falcón, and percussionist Adel González, among others, who greatly enrich the sound of the album.

As guests, Haila María Mompié also stands out in the catchy and cheerful "Zapato nuevo pa que rompa el piso" –the song that opens the recording–, to complete a CD that definitely enriches the current danceable music soundscape. It is also an impeccable recording within Wil Campa's discography, which serves as an ideal framework for presenting our new Campaign, always seeking greater connection with the audiences that always choose the music produced by the oldest record label in the country. There is no doubt that at EGREM, "la Música Vive". And here is Wil to prove it.
