Sian Chiong to Act in Film About Alina Fernández, Daughter of Fidel Castro

Cuban singer and actor Sian Chiong will be part of the cast of the film about Alina Fernández, daughter of Fidel Castro, which will star American James Franco and be directed by Spanish filmmaker Miguel Bardem.

The film is currently in production in Colombia and, according to TV y Novelas Magazine, the young Cuban will have an "important character" although the specific role he will play was not revealed.

Sian Chiong, 28 years old and based in Mexico, has a recognized career in Mexican territory and is the son of Cuban director Rolando Chiong.

Through his Facebook profile, Chiong shared the news of his participation in the film, in which Cuban actor Rafael Ernesto Hernández González will also appear.

"Alina de Cuba" is an independent film produced by Mankind Entertainment and Maven Pictures, which tells the story of Fidel Castro's daughter with Natalia Revuelta.

In early August, Variety magazine confirmed news of the film's production and added that Cuban-American actress Ana Villafañe, who will play Alina Fernández, will join James Franco's character.

Sian Chiong is remembered on the island mainly for having been part of the popular group Los Ángeles, as well as some programs on Cuban Television.

After leaving Cuba, he has developed his career primarily in Mexico, where he has participated in several series and telenovelas for Televisa, Univision, and Amazon Prime.

One of his most recent projects in Mexico was the telenovela "La mexicana y el güero," where his acting also led him to compose the musical theme "Sentí."

This year he has been part of the cast of the telenovela "Corazón Guerrero," from TelevisaUnivision, where he plays the role of Adrián Guerrero, the teenage cousin of the Guerrero family.
