Dr. Yankiel Díaz Morales Dies in Santa Clara

The media outlets in Villa Clara province report the death on February 11th of the deputy general director of the Military Hospital of Villa Clara, Dr. Yankiel Díaz Morales.

Dr. Yankiel was a young man who, from the beginning of Covid, dedicated himself to the fight to save lives. 40 years old, Specialist in Internal Medicine, Major of the FAR.

The efforts of the health personnel in Villa Clara were many in trying to save the life of someone who saved thousands of lives. Yankiel was diabetic and hypertensive and died as a victim of health complications as a consequence of COVID-19, which continues to claim lives in Cuba. These two underlying diseases complicated his clinical condition upon contracting COVID-19. The coronavirus did not respond to the Cuban vaccines with which the military officer was immunized on up to four occasions.
