The Musical Recordings and Editions Company (EGREM) celebrated this February 14th, day of love and friendship with the presentation of "Mi suerte", the first phonogram of Dúo Iris, at the Minor Basilica of the Convent of San Francisco de Asís.
This album under the musical production and recording of musician Yoel Martínez, includes twelve tracks, eleven of them authored by young people Dayamí Pérez Sánchez and Javier López Elías, while track seven "Vida vida" belongs to Cuban composer Francisco (Pancho) Céspedes.
"Mi suerte" also features the collaboration of renowned artists such as Yander Martínez, William Rivero, Rolando Luna, Miguelito Núñez, Camila Daniela, Jorge Aragón, Yibrán Ribero, Ernesto Cisneros, Israel López and David Torrens, the latter performing together with Dúo Iris the fifth song, titled "Haz de Luz", which according to Dayamí, is a song that sings to life and love with beautiful and fresh poetry.
For his part, Javier assured that this journey has been very beautiful and fruitful, mainly because they had from the beginning the guidance of Yoel Martínez, in the preparation and execution of this recording proposal.
Likewise, musicologist Gretel Garlobo, executive producer of Egrem, recognized the careful work undertaken by the member of Buena Fe in musically producing the CD, respecting in each arrangement the essence of the Dúo, maintaining that acoustic sound, but at the same time incorporating electronic soundscapes with the appropriate dose, guaranteeing a balance between the arrangements and the meticulous way of treating the timbres of all the invited musicians.
"Dúo Iris manages to win over different generations of audiences with their work and that is a very important value to highlight," Garlobo emphasized.
Meanwhile, Yoel Martínez himself said that from the first time he heard Dúo Iris, "it was an Oasis", in a time when many choose commercial music, it turned out to be interesting to discover that two young men with the capacity to embrace the trends that are in fashion, decided to make the music that they are passionate about, that music that transmits life, "and that captivated me, it convinced me and I decided to help them carry out their project".
"In this minimalist album each of the guests respected the poetry, the tenderness, the subtle and the beautiful that Dayamí and Javier manage to convey in their songs, and we tried to ensure that the arrangements would not spoil that load of emotions," Yoel assured, and said that despite recording under atypical conditions because of the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone who collaborated on it, put their heart, interest and effort into it.
