Cuban Yoanki Mencía shines today among the most outstanding foreign players in Argentine basketball as a key piece in the roster of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia.
According to the Liga Nacional website, the Caribbean international stands out for his physical ability, reading the game without the ball, and long-distance shooting (41% from three), which earns him praise within the "top eight" of the best imported basketball players.
The publication describes the Gimnasia's investment in Mencía's services as positive, who shines on the open court backed by his energy, movement, and versatility to defend all five positions on the court.
At 24 years old, the Cuban forward has already celebrated this season the runner-up finish in the Super 20 Tournament and with an average of 16 points, six rebounds, and a rating of 16.6, he stands out in the performance of the Comodoro Rivadavia team, second in the league championship with seven wins and two losses.
Alongside Cuban Mencía, figures appear on the list of the best foreign players in the top Argentine basketball competition such as Dominican Eloy Vargas (Boca), Peruvian Juan Pablo Venegas (Obras), and Americans Thomas Cooper (Argentino) and Latraius Mosley (Atenas).
The Argentine Liga Nacional brings together 20 teams and this Tuesday in the continuation of the schedule, Gimnasia with Cuban Mencía will face off against Riachuelo (5-3), eighth place in the standings.
