César Martí tireless guardian of Cuban rum

Dr. in Technical Sciences, César Augusto Martí Marcelo is a tireless man. He could have been a doctor, lawyer or scientist, but he chose Chemical Engineering, the career in which he graduated in the year 2000.

He still remembers his student years at the Vocational School and later at the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas when he dreamed of conquering the world at a very young age, but upon graduating, the world of rum captured him and he has not yet been able to separate himself from the texture, color, flavor and aroma characteristic of this liquid.

«A master of Cuban rum is nothing more than a custodian of a historical heritage that rests in the centuries-old aging warehouses and we are the guardians of an entire rum culture that has been preserved, maintained and enriched by generations of master rum makers throughout history, for more than 150 years of existence».

César is the youngest master rum maker in the country and graduated with a doctorate in Technical Sciences in 2021:

«For the Ronera's birthday we are designing a 50th anniversary cocktail with the help of the Cuban Bartenders Association. It will be a product from the extra-aged range, in which the main spirits and rums that have been carefully guarded by several generations will be present, to show at the same time the potential of this factory.

«We want the product to be clean, bright, transparent and to distinguish itself among the multitude of colors that this country has, between the white and the African, to be strong and fiery like Cubans», he assured.

«We manufactured this product five years ago, a high-end rum. We carried out the project in conjunction with Moët Hennessy, the most important luxury group in the world. Eminente has given us many awards, in 2021 it was multi-awarded with seven awards and in January of this year it achieved an award in Asia».

«Being a guardian of Cuban rum represents from a personal point of view the commitment I have with our culture and with this country in terms of rum, because of what it means for all the inhabitants of this country».
