Blanca Rosa Blanco will premiere her documentary "Retorno" in Havana

Cuban actress Blanca Rosa Blanco announced the premiere of her documentary "Retorno" in Havana, next February 10th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Charles Chaplin cinema.

Through her social networks the artist shared moments from the premiere of her work at El Teatro Chico, in Santa Cruz de La Palma, Spain, last March 2022 and took the opportunity to announce its presentation in the Cuban capital.

"Retorno" is directed by Blanca Rosa, but she also served as screenwriter for the film to address an aspect of Spanish immigration to Cuba based on the festivals of the indianos on the Island of La Palma.

Carlos de la Huerta participated in the production of the piece and for the soundtrack they had the collaboration of singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia.

During the audiovisual's premiere in Spain, the actress commented that the entire team worked very hard for the work to have "excellent quality and execution, both in content and in narrative style, and musical creation".

With a duration of 52 minutes, "Retorno" continues Blanca Rosa Blanco's career as a director, who made her debut in 2018 with the film "El regreso", premiered during the 40th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana.

Blanca Rosa Blanco expressed at the time of its premiere in Spain that: "We people from Cuba have a very important and family bond with the Canary Islands. Most of the people who emigrated to Cuba remain there, and in Cuba it is not known that there is a day that is completely dedicated to them, to the indianos. We want to use this festival as a pretext to take a tour through the cultural, heritage and emotional aspects so that it is known in both countries".

She also added that "The festival is important, but the documentary is based on the thinking, on the culture and how those emigrants are who stayed there in Cuba. We want to hold onto historical memory, onto the personal memory of some of those who are here. We also want to speak of that painful part that is the loss in emigration. We want to delve deeper into the essence of emigration".
