Cuban boxer who fights in the 52 kg division.
From a young age he began practicing boxing and due to the results obtained he transferred to EIDE Lino Salabarría Pupo, where he completed his sports training and joined the national youth pre-selection team.
In 2010, in response to his progress and sports results, he became part of the National Boxing Team and participated in the Playa Girón National Boxing Championship where he obtained the silver medal and in the Youth Panamerican Tournament, where he won the title. At the World Youth Championship that same year, he delivered a outstanding performance winning the bronze medal. He achieved gold medals at the Giraldo Córdova Cardín Tournament, as well as at the V Cuban Sports Olympiad.
He also participated in the International Maserota Tournament where he won gold. In the final of the national Team Tournament he achieved a record of 3 wins and 1 loss.
In 2011 he participated in the Strandzha Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria, where he obtained the gold medal. At the XVI World Boxing Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan, he did not obtain a medal, however he achieved qualification for the boxing event of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
That year 2011 he was part of the national team that participated in the XVI Panamerican Games Guadalajara 2011 where he delivered an outstanding performance despite having fallen in the dispute for the gold medal in a controversial fight against Mexican Joselito Velásquez and ended the year winning at the Playa Girón National Boxing Championship, held in Pinar del Río.
At his first Olympic Games in London 2012 he was eliminated in the second fight disputing the pass to the quarterfinals.
In August 2013 as part of the Domadores de Cuba franchise he defeated Joselito Velázquez of the Guerreros de México. In September he participated in the Golden Belt Tournament organized in Constanza, Romania, where he defeated 3-0 for bronze the host Marius Hondaru in his first presentation. On September 8 he won the title at this event by defeating 3-0 the host Ovidiu Berceanu.
In October 2013 he participated in the World Boxing Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan where in his first fight he defeated Filipino Mark Barriga. On October 21 in his second fight he obtained victory by the non-presentation of his opponent, Welsh Ashley Williams and four days later in the semifinals of the tournament he finished in bronze after being surpassed by local Birzhan Zhakypov.
In the match of the IV World Series of Boxing against the Guerreros de México held at the Domo del Deportivo Plan Sexenal he defeated Joselito Velázquez in his debut and on December 6 in the continuation of the World Series, this time at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva he achieved a 3-0 victory against Russian Bator Sagaluev, contributing to his team Domadores maintaining their undefeated record in 15 fights, reaching nine points and leading the group. On December 22 at the Playa Girón Boxing Tournament, held in Santi Spíritus, he defeated Camagüey's Eriel Pérez in the final, achieving the gold medal.
Already in 2014, on January 11 at the Olympic Complex of Cuba, representing his team Domadores de Cuba, he won again his fight against Khamza Nametov of the Bakú Fires from Azerbaijan, confirming the Cuban undefeated record in group B of the IV World Series. On January 30 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana he defeated (3-0) Dawid Jagodzinski of the Hussars Poland in a card where the Domadores de Cuba confirmed themselves as undefeated leaders of group B of the IV World Series of Boxing. On February 21 in that same venue he defeated (2-1) Temirtas Zhussupov of the Astana Arlans of Kazakhstan in a championship where the Domadores de Cuba team obtained all victories to secure first place in group B of the IV World Series of Boxing accumulating 24 points.
On June 6 in the final edition of the IV World Series of Boxing he defeated 3-0 his rival Khamza Nametov of the Azerbaijan Baku Fires, maintaining his undefeated record in eight fights thus achieving the Domadores de Cuba to defeat the hosts 3-2.
In September of this year he moved up in weight category. From 49 he passed to 52 kilograms, in which he fought representing the Domadores de Cuba, who fought in an exhibition boxing duel, which under the name of Choque de Titanes took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, against the team of Astana Arlans Kazakhstan, where he was surpassed by Miras Zhakupov 3-0. In October he participated in the Mohammed VI Cup held in the city of Marrakech, Morocco, where he became champion.
He closed 2014 fighting for the first time at 52 kg in the LIII edition of the Playa Girón National Tournament, where he had already won three crowns at 49 kg and without much difficulty he became champion in his new flyweight category after defeating in the final Artemisa's Jorge Luis Cordero. A month earlier he had become Central American Champion at the Veracruz 2014 Games by defeating Colombian David Ávila in the final.
On January 24, 2015 in the African city of Blida he became champion 3-0 against Abdelhakaim El Barka of the Halcones del Desierto from Algeria. In his second outing in the V World Series of Boxing the Domadores de Cuba achieved a sweep. On February 6 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva, Havana, he won 3-0 against Yong Chan of the Dragones de China. On February 20 in that same venue he defeated 3-0 Kelvin de la Nieve of the Corazones de León from Great Britain in the sixth outing of the Domadores de Cuba. On March 7, in his fourth outing in the V World Series of Boxing, he obtained a 2-1 victory against the star of the Leones Atlas of Morocco Achraf Kharroubi in the Moroccan city of Casablanca. On March 21 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Moscow, he defeated 3-0 Russian Ovik Ogannisian, remaining undefeated in five outings. His team Domadores de Cuba maintains the undefeated record in Group A. On April 10 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva, Havana, he proclaimed himself champion 3-0 against Orlando Huitzil of the Guerreros de México. His team advanced to semifinals with 36 unreachable points for the remaining members of group A.
On July 25 he obtained a silver medal after being defeated 3-0 by American Antonio Vargas in the final card of the XVII Panamerican Games Toronto 2015, held this year in Canada.
On June 4, 2016 in the final fight of the VI World Series of Boxing that took place in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, he defeated Muhammad Ali of the British Lions of Hearts, 2-1. His team was crowned champion of the tournament by surpassing their opponents 9-1.
On February 17 in the second week of the VII World Series of Boxing, in a card held at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana, he defeated 3-0 Ramón Quiroga of the Cóndores de Argentina, where his team Domadores de Cuba swept 5-0 against their opponents. On March 17 he was defeated 3-0 by Yoel Finol of the Caciques de Venezuela. In this fourth outing in the VII World Series of Boxing which took place in the state of Vargas in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela his team Domadores de Cuba prevailed 3-2. On May 19 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in quarterfinals he defeated 3-0 Jasurbek Latipov of the Tigres de Uzbekistán. His team achieved a sweep to advance to semifinals. On June 9 again at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva he won in the semifinals 3-0 against Joan Vargas of the Heroicos de Colombia in a 5-0 sweep provided to the opposing team by the Domadores of format C-2. On July 15 in the final fight of this VII World Series of Boxing held at the Palacio de los Deportes of Kazakhstan, he surpassed 3-0 Olzhas Sattibayev of the Lobos de Astaná who obtained the team crown 6-5.
On June 19, 2017 he achieved the gold medal at the Panamerican Boxing Championship held in Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras, by defeating 5-0 Colombian Ceiber Ávila.
On September 2 he achieved the gold medal at the World Boxing Championship held in Hamburg, Germany, by surpassing 5-0 Uzbek Joseph Ward. In this event Cuba obtained the victory by teams.
On December 20 of this year he obtained the gold medal in the 52 kg division by defeating 5-0 Havana's Agnolis Biñote at the LVI Playa Girón National Boxing Tournament, held in Sancti Spíritus.
On February 9, 2018 he made his debut in the preliminaries of the VIII World Series of Boxing at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva of Havana, defeating 3-0 his opponent Khudoynazar Fayzov of the Tigres de Uzbekistán in the 52 kg category. His Domadores team provided a 5-0 sweep against their opponents.
On December 20, 2018, in the final fight of the 57th edition of the Playa Girón Boxing Tournament, held at the Sala Polivalente Rafael Fortún in Camagüey, he surpassed 5-0 Guantanamo's Rafael Joubert to achieve the title in this fight.
He obtained the gold medal on April 10, 2019 at the Qualifying Tournament held in Managua, Nicaragua, securing his place at the Lima Panamerican Games. On April 10 in the final of this same tournament he achieved the gold medal by non-presentation of his opponent Dominican Rodrigo Marte.
He was part of the delegation that represented Cuba at the XVIII Panamerican Games Lima 2019, where he achieved a silver medal after being surpassed 4-1 by Dominican Rodrigo Marte.
On December 18 of this year, in the final of the 58th edition of the Playa Girón Boxing Tournament, held at the Sala Polivalente Rafael Fortún in Camagüey, he surpassed 5-0 Damián Arce from the host province, winning the gold medal.
In the Cuban Boxing Challengers Match held at the Palacio de los Deportes Rafael Fortún in Camagüey on November 27, 2020, he defeated (3-0) Camagüey's Damián Arce in the 52 kg category.
Yosbany lost in the quarterfinals of the 52kg at the XXXII Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 against British Galal Yafai on August 3, 2021. The fight, second loss of the Cuban boxing team, was closely contested from the first round.
