Yamir Robinson Puente

Yamir Robinson Puente, known artistically as "El Teacher," was one of the founders of Cuban urban music group Kola Loka, formed in 2001 in Tercer Frente, Santiago de Cuba. Together with his brother Yasser Robinson Puente and Ángel Torres Callard (Angelón), he made up the original trio while completing his military service.

The group gained wide recognition in Cuban popular music with songs that defined an era, including La estafa del babalao, Terremoto, El Indio, and Booty grande. Over time, the group became a duo between Yasser and Angelón, while Yamir stepped back from the main formation.

Yamir Robinson was living in Spain, where he passed away on June 15, 2026 at the Hospital Infanta Margarita de Cabra, in Córdoba, at the age of 45, after more than a year fighting a carcinoma that compromised his lungs and other vital organs. He was the father of three children.
