Chocolate MC
Chocolate belongs, along with other Cuban singers such as Osmani García, Roberto Hidalgo (Yomil), Daniel Muñoz (El Dani) Ramón Lavado (El Chacal), Jacob Forever, Michael Sierra (El Micha), José Manuel Carvajal (El Taiger), among others, to the Cuban movement known as Urban Music.
For the most part, they are musicians who have been part of successful orchestras or groups in the past and have decided to relaunch their careers as solo artists. Some of the members of the Urban Movement are characterized by the vulgarity and ordinariness of their compositions as well as by the continuous quarrels that they publicly air among themselves through their social networks.
Popularly among Cubans this musical genre is known as "reparterismo." As for the music, reggaeton predominates in this movement, with influences from hip hop, rap, reggae, trapton and other classic Cuban rhythms.
Chocolate began his musical journey before the age of 16 when he started writing songs. But it was not until this age that, thanks to his songs popularized by Adonis MC and EL JHONA, whom he considers his teachers, he became known. "Against All Odds" is a CD written entirely by him for reggaetoneros Jhona and Jerry.
He was very close to singer Elvis Manuel who is considered one of the founders of Cuban reggaeton. Author of hits such as La Tuba, La rumba se formó and Bandolera, Elvis died at 18 years old in 1998 while trying to reach the shores of La Florida. Elvis was his mentor and spiritual teacher and to him, according to Chocolate himself, he owes his foray into the world of music to preserve his legacy.
His song "Guachineo" released in 2015 which has more than 10 million views on YouTube became a worldwide phenomenon thus coining a new concept of rhythm and dance.
In January 2017 he achieves his dream of reaching Miami with Pacheco Entertainment. That same year his controversial song "Mi palón Divino" (which reaches 10 million plays on YouTube) becomes a hit on the charts among Cubans inside and outside the island despite its lyrics loaded with crude expressions relating to sexual organs. In 2018 he versions, in contrast, one of the most popular songs by Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodríguez, El Necio, to which he gives his repartera interpretation.
He has 2 Gold Records, one for his hit "Bajanada" in 2018 and another for the song A Veces as a duet with Lenier Mesa (2019) which reaches more than 15 million views on YouTube. He also has the YouTube Silver button for having more than 100 thousand subscribers.
In 2019 the reggaetonero stated that he would launch his new clothing line that would be named Choco and whose images would be related to the covers of his albums as well as his hit songs.
He is the father of 4 children and resides in Houston, Texas, with the mother of his daughter, also Cuban, Daine.
