Rebeca Martínez Suárez

Rebeca Martínez is a Cuban dancer, singer, actress and TV host from Havana. She studied piano from childhood at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory and the National School of Art, and worked as a child on radio and TV youth programs such as Escenario Escolar.

At the Sociedad Artística Gallega she met dancer Miguel Ángel Masjuán, and together they won first place on the hugely popular TV dance contest "Para Bailar" in the early 1980s. The win made her a household name across the island and led to musical theater, major stages and film work, including the Cuban-German coproduction "Cuernos de cabra."

For more than 25 years she led on-air workouts on Cuban television, first on "Gimnasia musical aerobia" (1985-2000) and then on "Ponte en forma" (2001-2011). She has also built a career as a singer.
