Niurka Melanie Marcos Calle

Niurka, La mujer escándalo

Niurka Marcos, known simply as Niurka, is a Cuban vedette, singer, dancer, and actress who resides in Mexico and has built an artistic career in this country since the 1990s.

Marcos was born in La Habana, Cuba. Daughter of Carmelo Marcos, a major in the Cuban Navy and Salustiana "Celeste" Calle, a homemaker. She has five siblings: Martha, Maribel, Thomas, María del Carmen, and Ernesto.

From a young age, Niurka developed a special passion for the performing arts, a passion that led her to seek professional training in this field. With this goal in mind, she decided to enroll in the prestigious Escuela Nacional Circense de Cuba, where she studied for 4 years and perfected the dance and acting techniques that would later lead her to begin an artistic career in Mexico.

In 1983, she was hired to participate in the main cast of Cabaret Parisien, at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. After that, she was part of the cast of Cabaret Tropicana and made international tours through several countries in Europe and America.

Niurka left her country to go to Mexico with her husband, a Mexican man who worked in Mazatlán named Federico. Later, in Baja California, she had her first son. However, Niurka returned to Cuba with her son and her mother due to the constant abuse she suffered from her husband.

Her History in Mexico
In the mid-1990s, Niurka made the decision to return to Mexico. There, she settled in cities like Mérida and Cancún, where she found job opportunities in television as a presenter of variety shows for the whole family.

Niurka shared the screen with other hosts, but also stood out for making small appearances in comic sketches that later opened the doors to the world of acting in Mexico City, the capital of the country and a place known as the platform for many Mexican stars.

In 1998, Niurka met telenovela producer Juan Osorio, who gave her her first roles in Mexican melodramas; the first of them was in 1998, when she played the character of Myrtha in the successful telenovela "Vivo por Elena", starring Victoria Ruffo and Saúl Lisazo.

The relationship with Osorio and the sympathy she had generated with the public allowed her to continue participating in television, generally playing supporting characters in both comedies and dramas.

After "Vivo por Elena", she acted in the children's telenovela "Gotita de amor" and later in "Nunca te olvidaré".

Niurka lived in the city of Mérida, Mexico. There she had relative success in Televisa telenovelas, a company she joined through producer Juan Osorio, who, upon seeing the host on a Televisa affiliate program in Yucatán, Grupo SIPSE, called "De los pies a la cabeza", co-hosted by Marcos Valdéz, was amazed by her versatility and immediately transferred her to Mexico City.

Niurka and Osorio began a highly publicized relationship in 1998, which is why she began to participate in all of Osorio's productions. The couple had a son named Juan Emilio, the third child of the Cuban who had a daughter named Romina and a son named Kiko from previous relationships.

She acted in the play Aventurera alongside Carmen Salinas and Armando Palomo, which made her known throughout Mexico, thanks to her beauty and charisma. In this work she was able to put into practice her knowledge acquired in the academy and those obtained during her stay at the Tropicana show.

Niurka and Osorio had planned to marry in February 2004; however, in January of that year, a scandal broke out in which the dancer revealed to the press that she had a secret relationship with actor Bobby Larios, who was part of the telenovela Velo de novia, which Osorio was producing at that time and in which she also participated; she also revealed her plans to end her relationship with Osorio, however she went out in 2009 with Gloria Torres Palazuelos, a Mexican dancer.

The news caused a great scandal in the entertainment industry, especially due to the public insults that Niurka hurled at Osorio, blaming him for their separation, among other things, with the argument that he did not satisfy her sexually. On February 19, 2004, she married Larios and months later they announced that they would be the protagonists of a Reality show called Lo veremos todo where their married life would be exposed, premiering on November 9 of that same year. Said program was a failure and was no longer broadcast; that same year they acted together in the youth telenovela Corazones al límite.

In early 2006 they announced their separation and divorced on June 28. Marcos married Yanixán Texido in 2007; the couple separated in May 2009 and, on February 6, 2011, they divorced.

Niurka appears as a supporting actress in the telenovela La fea más bella, playing the receptionist named Paula María, during 2006 and singing in the "soundtrack" of the album; she also released an album called La Emperadora. In February 2007, she appeared on the cover of the Mexican edition of Playboy.

In 2008 she had a participation as a dancer in the telenovela Fuego en la sangre. She currently works for TV Azteca in a late-night show called El Show de Niurka, shortly after her divorce from Cuban Yanixán, in 2010 she was in the contest Mira quién baila, in 2010-2011 in the theatrical work Perfume de Gardenia, later joining the ranks of Ventaneando with Pati Chapoy, in its Azteca América version.

Niurka has been part of the theatrical work Perfume de gardenia since 2011-2012. Since January 24, 2011, she has been the host of her program on TV Azteca Ella es Niurka. The program is a talk show that competes in the same 4:00 PM time slot with Laura Bozzo and her program on Televisa. Also on TV Azteca she is part of the telenovela Emperatriz and the new version of La mujer de Judas in 2012.
