Virginia Guerra

Born in Havana. She is an actress and singer.

She studied singing with several professors from her native city.

She was part of the Nueva Trova movement (1966-68).

She was a member of the Teatro Musical de La Habana —La corte de Faraón (1985)— and of the Estudio Lírico de La Habana, where she participated in the productions of: María la O (1987) and El murciélago (1991).

In 1992 she joined the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba, taking part in numerous titles from the repertoire of zarzuelas and operettas, both Spanish —La leyenda del beso (Madre Ulita), Los gavilanes (Renata), La del soto del parral (Catalina), La revoltosa (Gorgonia), La tabernera del puerto (La Sardinera), Luisa Fernanda (Mariana)—, and Cuban —El cafetal (Cipriana), Cecilia Valdés (Dolores Santa Cruz, Señá Dolores, Madre Superiora)—. She participated in the world premiere of the Cuban zarzuela Alánkoro, rencor y amor, by Mike Romay (1994).

She has performed in Spain, Brazil, and Mexico.
