Raciel del Toro Hernández

Bachelor's degree in Journalism. For several years he has been a film critic and columnist on cinematographic and contemporary audiovisual theory, with publications in Costa Rica, Spain, Germany, Mexico, and Cuba. He has been a teacher of Audiovisual Production and Film Criticism at the University of La Habana and at the Audiovisual Education Laboratories of TalaTala Filmmakers, in Barcelona. Since 2014 he is an Advisor to the Board of Los Premios de Cine Fénix and Cinema 23 (Ibero-American Association for the Promotion and Dissemination of Cinematographic Arts).

From 2013 to 2016 he was the General Coordinator of Fundacine (Foundation for the Development of Audiovisual Media in Central America and the Caribbean), where he administered the Cinergia film fund for the promotion of regional cinema and coordinated several international events in film industry and training. From 2011 to 2016 he was Editor-in-Chief of the Central American Film, Video, and Animation Portal.

He worked as Director of Communication of the training subsection and parallel activities of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of La Habana, and was Executive Assistant of the International Festival of Poor Cinema of Gibara, where he directed the documentary film programming team and coordinated cinematographic training spaces and theoretical forums. He worked in the International Distribution department of the Cuban Institute of Film Art and Industry (ICAIC).

At the Costa Rica International Film Festival (CRFIC) he was Director of Training and Industry in the 2015 edition and Training Coordinator in the 2016 edition. Since 2017 he is the Artistic Director of CRFIC.

Extensive experience in film festivals, communication, training and film industry, journalism, public relations, project administration, and event coordination. He has worked in media outlets, audiovisual companies, private foundation, audiovisual fund, film festivals, artists' association, and as a university teacher.
