Pedro L. Fariñas Mayo

He was an eminent radiologist who dedicated his life to the practice, progress, and teaching of Radiology.

He was born in Santa Clara, province of Las Villas. He graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1917. Specialized in Radiology, he published works on that subject and was the author of several radiological techniques. President of the Society of Clinical Studies of Havana.

He excelled and received great honors, not only in his homeland, but also from foreign medical societies. He belonged to all Cuban medical societies, was president of the Society of Clinical Studies of Havana and presided on various occasions over the Cuban Society of Radiology and Physiotherapy. He was a distinguished member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and leader of the Cuban Medical Federation. He was president of the VIII National Medical Congress and first president of the Cuban Society of Radiology.

Dr. Fariñas belonged to all the Radiology societies of America; he attended numerous Radiology congresses in North America, Canada, Latin America, and Europe; author of more than one hundred works; as well as president of several Cuban medical congresses.

Dr. Fariñas was a tireless worker and researcher who always taught all that he knew and by his side many Cuban radiologists were trained and learned.
