Osmani Tamayo Mulen

Former Cuban baseball player. Right-handed pitcher for the Santiago de Cuba team. He defended the mound for Santiago in seven national series, particularly in 2007, when Santiago won the Cuban championship. His short but fruitful sports career was marked by unconditional dedication to the sport.

He died at the age of 30 on Sunday, May 20, 2012 as a result of a heart attack.

He was born on Carretera de Baconao Km 2, Santiago de Cuba. He began playing baseball at a very young age. Because of his character, he was always much loved and respected by everyone. He weighed 67 kg, with a height of 1.67.

He made his debut in the 44th National Baseball Series, and from then on participated in: 7 national series, participated in 208 games, started 19, completed 3 and relieved in 190.

During his lifetime, Tamayo accumulated 25 wins and 20 losses with 69 strikeouts, and in the 2012 season he finished with a record of 7-5 in 35 games pitched.

The numbers displayed in seven national series, including the last one, could in no way reflect the determination with which he took to the mound, regardless of the batter in the batter's box, no matter how formidable, because his purpose was always only one: to defend with all his might the emblematic red and black uniform of the Santiago de Cuba team.

In the 51st National Series he won 7 and lost 5. With a view to the III World Classic 2012 he was selected to be part of the National Pre-selection.
