Alcadio Martínez was born in San Cayetano (Viñales), in a humble family.

He was a baseball player who played for the three teams the province had at different times (Pinar del Río, Vegueros, and Forestales).
He played with Pinar del Río in the eighth national series in 1968–1969, was an active player in the special series of the 10 million, then joined the Vegueros team from 1972–1974 and in 1977 was called to the team again. He subsequently joined the Forestales selection from 1974 to 1976, and in that same year he retired from active baseball.
During his career as a baseball athlete and pitcher, he achieved a total of 25 wins and 18 losses for an effectiveness average of 2.89.
As a retired athlete, he has remained active providing services to the development of baseball in the municipality and especially at Sports Complex #2 in the Puerto Esperanza locality. He has been the recipient of multiple invitations to participate in games with retired athletes at the national level, such as the baseball game held in Cienfuegos in 1984-1985, among other national events.
At the provincial level, he has participated in events with different municipalities in the province and is also a permanent guest at the anniversary of Capitán San Luis Stadium, a place where he played countless times.
