Nancy González del Pino

Outstanding Cuban actress. Graduate in acting from the Faculty of Performing Arts at the Instituto Superior de Arte. Cultural Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF in Cuba.

Born in Matanzas. In the summer of 1974 she was proclaimed Star of the FMC at the Carnival of her native city.

Graduate in 1981 with a degree in Performing Arts from the Instituto Superior de Arte. After her graduation with the work "La emboscada", under the direction of Flora Lauten, she began her professional life in the Dramatic Ensemble of Matanzas which, at that time and with the incorporation of the first group of ISA graduates, changed its name to Mirón Cubano and began a different trajectory as a theatrical collective.

Years passed working in Matanzas as an actress and General Director of the collective, until in 1986 she began a successful career in television. At that time she was the partner of popular actor Armando Tomey.

Awards and Recognition
Distinction for National Culture, awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba. Havana, 1993.
Special mention for acting in cinema, awarded in 1986 by the Competition of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba for "De tal pedro tal astilla".
She won in 1987 the Award for acting in television from the Competition of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) for the tele-theater "A Piece of Sea and a Window".

In 2003, Caricatos Award for female leading acting awarded by the Association of Performing Artists of UNEAC for her work in the telenovela "Going Out at Night".

Other Responsibilities
Since its inception, the UNICEF Cooperation Program in Cuba has had the support of the well-known actress Nancy González who holds the position of Goodwill Ambassador of the same.

Ambassadors are permanent spokespersons for UNICEF's messages by putting their talent and power of convocation at the service of the promotion and protection of the rights of children and adolescents.
