According to an admirer of her career: "Miriam Mier on the radio masterfully performed any role they gave her, whether it was a little girl, an elderly woman, a kind young woman or a wicked villain. Among her characters is "Princess Aura" from the radio novel "A 15-Year-Old Captain" or "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,..." which made children and young people from several generations dare to dream, while hosting radio programs with her own charisma such as "Nosotras" for more than 17 years, built loyal audiences.

At age 7 she began acting to fulfill her mother's request, who had the dream of being an actress but in her time it was not a well-regarded profession. Miriam received ballet and acting classes and was selected in a casting call for child actors.

Her beginnings were in 1953, in the children's program of Cuban television "Las Estampas Infantiles de Chichí"; where she also danced, sang and performed commercials. At age 14 she joined the cast of the old CMQ radio station, waiting impatiently for some actress to fail so she could take her place or for there to be a need for an extra actress since the broadcasts were live. Meanwhile, in the evenings she prepared herself until she earned a degree in Art History.

One day the actress Griselda Nogueras, who was the protagonist of the novel "Under the Sky of Algeria" which was at that moment in the spotlight, was absent and Miriam was called to replace her. As she has confessed, at that moment it was difficult for her because she was not prepared for it, but with the help of great actors such as Alberto González Rubio, Adita Béjar and Gina Cabrera she managed to carry forward a historical character called Yamila, a role of a hunted and tortured female guerrilla fighter; it was difficult for her but little by little she conquered the audience.

For her work in Cuban radio, the actress was presented with the commemorative seal for the 85th anniversary of Cuban Radio.
