Mariam Duranona

Marion Duranona. She is a Cuban actress in film, television, and theater. In addition, she is a model and dancer.

She was born in the city of Puerto Padre, province of Las Tunas in eastern Cuba. From a very young age she decided to venture into the world of art. For this reason, she entered the Vocational School of Arts "Juan Cristóbal Nápoles Fajardo"; "El Cucalambé", specializing in Dance.

Later, at the age of 15, she enrolled in the National School of Art (ENA), to study the specialty of Acting. In 2018 she completed her studies and obtained her degree from this academic institution.

Her beginnings in the seventh art started at the young age of 9 years old with the character of Margarita in the independent film "Los Cuervos", based on the homonymous work by writer Guillermo Vidal. From this performance and with the support of her parents and family, she decided to continue dedicating herself to acting as an inseparable part of her life.

In 2018, while completing her graduation thesis corresponding to the fourth year of ENA in the Teatro El Público group, under the direction of director Carlos Días Alfonso, she was selected to play Sofía, a co-leading character in the German film "Ernesto's Island", directed by German director Ronald Vietz. In this feature film, she shared the set with lead actor Max Riemelt, known for the Series "Sense 8" by the Wachowski sisters on Netflix and the films "La Ola", "Freire Fall", among others.

Precisely in 2018, she participated as an assistant director in the filming of the Hollywood production "Guaba Island", directed by filmmaker Hiro Murai, alongside actress and singer Rihanna, whom she had the opportunity to meet and spend time with during filming. In the same way, with the rest of the acting, technical, and production cast.

In 2019 she plays a small supporting role in the Canadian film called "Charity", directed by Carlo Liconti. She also starred in the short films "La Visita", directed by British director Charles McDouglas, and "Estación Final" by director Danel Barrera, in the latter alongside Cuban actor Denys Ramos.

As a student of the Vocational School of Art specializing in Dance in 2010, she played Cuban poet María Liliana Celorrio in a biographical documentary for Cuban television.

In 2014 she was selected to enter the National School of Art in Havana in the specialty of Acting where she obtained her professional training as an actress in Film, Television, Theater, and Radio. During this period of study, she performed various characters for television in the police series "Tras la Huella" under the direction of Omar Alí, in the cases "Excluido" and "El Premio Gordo".

Between 2018 and 2019, she was part of the cast of the soap opera "Entrega" with the controversial character of Jessica, under the direction of Alberto Luberta Martínez and with a screenplay by Amilcar Salatti.

In 2015, she performed in the Raquel Revuelta Theater with the Cuban story "Escuchando a Little Richard", directed by Jorge Enrique Caballero, as well as "Molinos de Viento" in 2016 by Caballero himself. Later, from 2018 to the present, she is part of Teatro El Público under director Carlos Días Alfonso where she plays Lady Ana in the work "Shakespeare Gourmet" with texts by William Shakespeare adapted by playwright Fabián Suárez and directed by Carlos Días Alfonso, Osvaldo Doimeadios, and Fernando Hechavarría.

The actress has participated in various video clips for artists and groups such as: Alain Pérez, Charanga Latina, Diana Fuentes, Randy Malcom, Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco, Baby K, F Cuba, Xion y Lenox, by producers Joseph Ros, Charles Cabrera, Yeandro Tamayo, Daniel Durán, and Orlando Cruzata. She has also lent her image in different photo shoots for advertising purposes, but only in a complementary way.

However, in 2019 her career as a model achieved a dramatic change following the selection made through the digital social network Instagram by the event managers to represent Cuba in the international beauty contest held in Italy. For the first time this pageant opened its doors to candidates from other countries. For the occasion, the actress was chosen within the Top 20 of favorites among other beauties participating from around the world.

"It's not just about meeting the established beauty standards, but also having a good command of English. My future international debut also helped me in my first film as a co-leading actress, alongside the renowned German actor Max Riemelt, in Ernesto's Island" -she stated when the news came out.

Her presence at Miss Europe Continental in the World was a significant step in her professional career that has opened doors to international exposure of her work.

She has taken classes in dance/theater workshops taught by Sandra Rami, at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) as part of the Scenic Transposals Festival, Creative Scenarios, in 2015. Likewise, in the Dance Workshop with teacher Isabel Bustos in the Retazos Company in 2016, and the Actor Direction Workshop by British film director Charles McDouglas at the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) in 2019. She has also completed English language studies, which has allowed her to work in foreign productions requiring the language for a particular character.
